Over the past few decades, one of the most hotly contested issues in sport science literature has been the impact of static stretching (StS) on ensuing strength and power exercises. This paper carried out the objectives are (1) to compile recent and earlier research on the acute effects of StS impact muscle strength and power performances; (2) to refresh readers\' understanding of earlier warnings; and (3) to go over the physiological mechanisms behind short-duration StS when used alone or in conjunction with a comprehensive warm-up regimen. StS has been regarded as detrimental to subsequent strength and power performances for the past 20 years. As a result, it has been advised against using StS before to exercises involving strength and power. Short-duration StS must be used carefully in high-performance athletes, though, because it has mild but noticeable detrimental effects on subsequent strength and power performances, which may affect performance during competition.
